Requirements
  • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 5 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 7 years’ progressive related experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC system is desired
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required
  • MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications
  • Applicants offered employment are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties require a DOE security clearance
  • Eligibility requirements for access to classified matter include US citizenship and being at least 18 years of age
  • Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level) with related investigations
  • Counterintelligence evaluation may be required
  • Relocation and other benefits as described (not a requirement)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Responsibilities
  • Assist with all facility-related projects involving electrical, plumbing, environmental, safety and health, and select Heating, Venting and Cooling System (HVAC) duties
  • Participate in planning, staffing activities, scheduling projects, and deliverable tracking
  • Assist with vendor research and selection for specialized jobs and projects
  • Monitor project schedules and engage with customers to ensure job accuracy, completion, and timeliness
  • Provide status updates to Facility Manager, colleagues, and RSL management
  • Identify electrical wires by color; read and interpret blueprints/technical diagrams
  • Install and maintain wiring and lighting systems
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
  • Identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices
  • Repair and/or replace defective wiring or fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Coordinate project assignments among engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients, and vendors
  • Serves as a liaison to JBA’s Civil Engineering Department as it relates to building repairs that fall under their purview
  • Perform routine building walk-through and system checks as directed
  • Assist with vehicle fleet maintenance to include cleaning vehicles as required and transport for preventative/emerging requirements
  • Adhere to state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code and train fellow team members to install, maintain, and/or repair electrical wiring or equipment
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of HVAC system is desired
  • Prior experience with electrical installations and building maintenance in an industrial or government facility is preferred
  • Experience working with government facilities or DOE sites is preferred
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment and reading blueprints is preferred
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors and vendors is preferred
