Requirements
  • A paralegal certificate or at least five years of paralegal experience in a private law firm with an emphasis on litigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of California and federal district courts and filing procedures, with experience or demonstrated willingness to learn United States appellate courts, tribal courts, and administrative tribunals and related procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal software and e-discovery platforms such as PACER, CM/ECF/e-filing, ShareFile, TrueFiling, LawToolBox, RelativityOne, Nextpoint, and Lexbe, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
  • High accuracy in document drafting, formatting, proofreading, citation verification, and source pulling.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously, exercise decisive judgment, maintain high attention to detail, and work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with professionalism and discretion.
  • Understanding of attorney-client privilege and the requirement to keep firm matters strictly confidential.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or specialized artificial-intelligence legal research platforms, and synthesize case law and factual evidence into summaries supporting case strategy and briefing.
  • Draft, proofread, cite-check, and format legal documents, including motion and discovery shells, exhibits, trial binders, correspondence, pleadings, and agreements, in accordance with court rules and firm style guides.
  • Coordinate the assembly of exhibits, binders, and required documentation for depositions, hearings, trials, and client presentations.
  • Assist attorneys with drafting discovery requests, interrogatories, requests for production, and privilege logs.
  • Manage preservation notices, legal holds, and native electronically stored information collections.
  • Use artificial-intelligence-assisted e-discovery and document-management platforms to organize, process, and analyze large document productions and databases.
  • Use artificial-intelligence tools to support early case assessments, document review, initial discovery responses, and identification of potentially privileged material under attorney supervision.
  • Handle state, federal, tribal court, and administrative tribunal filings through electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Accurately docket court deadlines, case milestones, and hearing dates, monitor active case dockets, and download and distribute court documents.
  • Update and maintain client data, matter profiles, and conflict-checking systems.
  • Own case files from inception through resolution.
  • Coordinate complex calendars and schedule client consultations, depositions, and internal team meetings across multiple time zones.
  • Provide administrative backup support as needed.
