  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with third-party billing in a hospital, similar medical facility, or physician’s office is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience with web navigation and web-based applications is required.
  • Clerical experience is required.
  • The candidate must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • The candidate must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate must demonstrate customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must maintain confidentiality and evaluate multiple sides of an issue.
  • The candidate must work well with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Process UB-04 and HCFA-1500 claims through the related billing system and claims scrubber, completing associated duties to ensure claim completeness and accuracy.
  • Prioritize scheduled duties to ensure timely claim submission and maximum cash flow.
  • Verify billing data and make revisions as needed.
  • Identify and report claim-submission issue trends to the management team.
  • Maintain an understanding of assigned third-party billing requirements for federal, state, and commercial payors.
  • Manage accounts receivable and investigate and review claims according to management productivity standards.
  • Communicate and correspond with patients, guarantors, and third-party payers regarding Coordination of Benefits, workers’ compensation, and automobile insurance no-fault information.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Medical Billing/Coding Program certificate is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills are preferred.
  • Direct third-party billing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with the EPIC computer system is a plus.
  • Additional educational degrees related to the position would be considered.
