Podcast ad spend up again in Q2 2026.

Podcast ad spend up again in Q2 2026. 17 August 2026 · News Alcohol, automotive and home goods were the fastest-growing podcast advertising categories in Australia during Q2 2026, according to ARN's iHeart and Magellan AI quarterly report. Airbnb was Australia's top podcast advertiser in Q2 2026, followed by Wise, Shopify, Entain Group, CommBank, McDonald's, Aussie Broadband, DoorDash, Booking.com and Harvey Norman wrapping up the top 10. News remained the genre with the highest advertiser ad load at 6.49%, followed by Arts at 6.25%, Business at 5.72%, Sports at 5.19% and True Crime at 4.97%. 30-second ads remained the most common ad length, accounting for 39% of ads detected in Australia, while mid-roll placements represented 50% share of all ad positions. Corey Layton, ARN's Head of Digital Audio, said: "What's interesting about this quarter's data is the breadth of categories increasing their investment in podcasting. While major travel, retail and finance brands continue to be strong performers, we're also seeing categories like alcohol, auto and home goods accelerate their use of the medium. It showcases how podcasting is now a mainstream environment for brands looking to build attention, trust and connection with highly engaged audiences." The full report can be found here.

Aussie Broadband eyes 1.5 million connections and $2b revenue after wrapping up four acquisitions. By Business News Australia 15 June 2026 Photo: Aussie Broadband via Facebook Telco and internet services provider Aussie Broadband (ASX: ABB) has upgraded its growth ambitions after completing a series of strategic acquisitions and divestments that position the telco to become Australia's third-largest NBN service provider. The Melbourne-based company is now targeting more than $2 billion in group revenue by FY28, along with 1.5 million connections and more than 17 per cent of NBN market share. The company today confirmed the completion of four transactions executed over the past six months, namely the acquisition of AGL Telco, the acquisition of Nexgen Networks, the divestment of Digital Sense Hosting, and the sale of the Buddy Telco brand to Tangerine, which clears the path for a growth push through to FY28. The AGL Telco deal, valued at $115 million in Aussie Broadband shares, brings about 350,000 NBN and mobile connections that will migrate to the Aussie Broadband platform by the second quarter of FY27. The transaction saw the company issue 22 million new shares, representing 7 per cent of issued capital. AGL Telco is expected to deliver $21 million in underlying EBITDA in the first 12 months following migration completion, giving Aussie Broadband a material earnings uplift as the connections come across. Separately, the Nexgen Networks acquisition was completed for $44.1 million in upfront cash plus an earn-out of up to $5.9 million, bolstering the company's fibre infrastructure capabilities. On the divestment side, Aussie Broadband offloaded Digital Sense Hosting and sold the Buddy Telco brand to Tangerine as part of a portfolio reshaping designed to sharpen the group's focus on its core connectivity business. The completion of all four transactions comes after Aussie Broadband surpassed one million broadband connections last month, a milestone underpinned by about 67,000 organic connection additions in the financial year to 31 May. Once all migrations from AGL Telco and the More/Tangerine portfolio are complete, the company expects to have more than 1.3 million NBN connections. The More/Tangerine migration is on track for completion by the end of this month, with about 275,000 active services set to contribute $12 million in annualised EBITDA from FY27, or $7 million after amortised incentives. Aussie Broadband expects FY26 underlying EBITDA to land in the middle of its $162 million to $167 million guidance range, with net debt to EBITDA sitting at 0.72 times. The company has upgraded its Look-to-28 ambitions off the back of the completed transactions. The refreshed targets include more than $2 billion in group revenue, greater than 17 per cent NBN market share, 1.5 million connections, an EBITDA margin above 13.5 per cent, and earnings per share compound annual growth of more than 30 per cent from the FY25 base. Group CEO Brian Maher says the completion of all four deals marks a transformational period for the business. "Completing one transaction is significant but completing four transactions within six months, while delivering the largest migration of connections on the NBN network to date and continuing to grow the business organically, is exceptional," says Maher. "These transactions are central to our upgraded Look-to-28 ambitions, repositioning the company to deliver higher quality and more sustainable earnings streams. "While competition remains strong, our FY27 pricing plans, continued focus on Australian-based customer service, and high-quality network performance position us well to continue winning new customers, particularly those migrating from legacy technologies and lower-speed services. "The operational leverage from increased scale is expected to improve capital efficiency and support stronger returns over time." The AGL Telco acquisition also establishes a five-year strategic partnership between the two companies, with a target of growing the combined connection base to 500,000 over the period. Aussie Broadband expects first-year revenue from the AGL Telco partnership of about $235 million, providing a substantial top-line contribution as the company pursues its $2 billion revenue target. iiNet raises NBN prices - Aussie Broadband and others to follow suit.

iiNet raises NBN prices - Aussie Broadband and others to follow suit. Posted: 27 May 2026 4:57 pm Key takeaways. * iiNet has increased the price of most of its NBN plans by $3 to $5 a month and will no longer offer its slowest NBN 12 plan. * More price hikes have now been confirmed, with Aussie Broadband and Belong joining Optus and Telstra in raising NBN prices. * These changes come ahead of wholesale NBN prices going up from 1 July. This is what providers pay to access the NBN network. iiNet's new NBN prices are now live. Here's what's changed. | Plan | Old monthly price | New monthly price | Price difference | | iiNet NBN 25 | $76.99 | $79.99 | $3 | | iiNet NBN 50 | $84.99 | $89.99 | $5 | | iiNet NBN 100 and NBN 500 | $94.99 | $94.99 | No change | | iiNet NBN 750 | $99.99 | $104.99 | $5 | | iiNet NBN 1000 | $109.99 | $114.99 | $5 | As you can see, most of iiNet's plans have increased in price, except for NBN 100 and NBN 500. As a quick reminder, NBN 100 and NBN 500 plans are now often priced similarly - even though NBN 500 can deliver speeds up to 5 times faster. Availability depends on the type of NBN connection at your home. iiNet has also removed its NBN 12 plan, which is the slowest speed tier available. It's been gradually phased out across the market, and there are now only 5 providers in its database still offering NBN 12 plans. Aussie Broadband and Belong NBN price hikes confirmed for 1 July. Aussie Broadband's raising NBN prices by $2 to $10 a month. | Plan | Old monthly price | New monthly price | Price difference | | Aussie Broadband NBN Basic (NBN 12) | $73 | $77 | $4 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Basic Plus (NBN 25) | $79 | $83 | $4 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Value (NBN 50) | $93 | $95 | $2 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Fast (NBN 100/20) | $95 | $99 | $4 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Fast Plus (NBN 100/40) | $109 | $114 | $5 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Superfast Pro (NBN 250) | $109 | $114 | $5 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Turbofast Pro (NBN 500) | $130 | $136 | $6 | | Aussie Broadband NBN Ultrafast Pro (NBN 1000) | $150 | $160 | $10 | Belong's prices are increasing by $3 a month across its NBN 25 and NBN 50 plans. There are no other changes. | Plan | Old monthly price | New monthly price | Price difference | | Belong Starter (NBN 25) | $72 | $75 | $3 | | Belong Standard Plus (NBN 50) | $88 | $91 | $3 | | Belong Premium (NBN 100) | $95 | $95 | No change | | Belong Fast (NBN 500) | $95 | $95 | No change | | Belong Ultrafast (NBN 1000) | $110 | $110 | No change | What about Optus and Telstra? As Finder Wallet Pty Ltd reported last week, Telstra will increase prices from 1 July by $4 a month across its NBN 25 and NBN 50 plans. Optus is also raising prices on the same plans by $2 to $4 a month. Origin Broadband already updated its pricing earlier this month. Its NBN 100/NBN 500 and NBN 1000 plans are now $5 a month more expensive. So, what do I do now? First, there's a good chance Finder Wallet Pty Ltd'll see more providers follow suit as new wholesale NBN prices kick in from 1 July - and they're set to go up. But the good news is there are heaps of NBN deals on right now. Phillip Britt exits Aussie Broadband board.

Phillip Britt exits Aussie Broadband board. Mar 24 2026 1:15PM Ends technical advisory role. Phillip Britt has resigned from Aussie Broadband's board, bringing to an end his formal influence over the company he co-founded and an era that lasted nearly 18 years. The telco announced today that Britt had retired from the board effective today and that it had also terminated an agreement with him from a year ago to provide technical advice to the challenger internet provider. Britt has been funding and establishing a wholesale fibre outfit in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Rural Fibre Co. Aussie Broadband cited Britt's plan to "expand the scope" of Rural Fibre Co for the timing of his departure. Britt declined to provide details of the new plan when contacted by iTnews for comment. "Whilst we are not able to go into any level of detail, we can also say that Rural Fibre Co is considering a number of opportunities that have arisen over the last few months," Britt said. However, he did reveal that the fledgling telco is poised to complete its first fibre rollout in Gippsland's Hazelwood North area and that it would commence its second at Traralgon West "in the next week or so". Britt launched Rural Fibre Co in January last year, at the time revealing that he had invested $10 million in the new venture which is focused on regions underserved for broadband. The broadband wholesaler is yet to attract any retail ISP customers, but it has established its own retail arm, Splice Internet. It's understood that Splice has around 200 customers in the Gippsland region and will need to be structurally separated from its parent once it achieves a certain scale of customer base. Meanwhile, pushed along by strategic acquisitions, Aussie Broadband has steadily increased its share of the NBN market. Last month it revised its strategic ambition for 2028 upward to have 1.5 million NBN broadband customers. That would be a half-a-million more than initially projected and translate to a 17 percent share of the NBN market. Most recently, Aussie Broadband has entered an agreement to acquire AGL's retail telco arm, AGL Telco, in a scrip deal valued at up to $125 million. The deal will see 350,000 AGL Telco customers move to Aussie's network, growing its broadband base to 1.25 million connections and its mobile subscribers to 400,000. "The company has reached milestones I could only ever dream of - Aussie Broadband has become a leading challenger to the incumbents and the most trusted telco for five years running," Britt said. "The future is bright with Aussie and, in the capable hands of an experienced leadership team and board, will continue to reach new milestones. "As a shareholder, I look forward to watching the company's continued success well into the future." Aussie Broadband chair Adrian Fitzpatrick wished Britt well with Rural Fibre Co. "Phil has been an instrumental part of the Aussie Broadband story, and as a co-founder will always have a special connection to the company," Fitzpatrick said.
