Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemical Science, Biological Science, or Physical Science.
  • Ability to understand and follow written procedures and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use manual and automated pipettes with good dexterity.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data using graphs, tables, charts, and mathematical calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the laboratory and work across laboratory areas.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and fluctuations in workload.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage stress appropriately.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-complexity clinical assays according to written standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure specimen integrity by following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Maintain general laboratory operations, including a neat work area, meeting attendance, and compliance with laboratory procedures and safety practices.
  • Analyze, review, and report test and quality-control results, taking remedial action when indicated.
  • Enter and verify data in the clinical laboratory information management system.
  • Maintain analytical instruments, schedule authorized routine service, and maintain instrument documentation.
  • Perform, enter, and maintain quality-control assessments and data.
  • Perform general laboratory housekeeping, including regular cleaning of sinks, counters, and equipment as appropriate.
  • Create and validate in-house control materials and reagents.
  • Monitor laboratory data systems and conduct statistical metric analysis.
  • Perform and document reagent quality-control verification.
  • File documentation associated with daily production runs.
  • Provide technical feedback to the laboratory supervisor regarding workflow issues.
  • Copy relevant forms used for production and validation.
  • Document laboratory inventory for assigned work areas.
  • Perform other laboratory duties as required and assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Molecular Biology professional by the American Society for Clinical Pathology or an equivalent certification, together with one year of pertinent laboratory experience, or professional laboratory certification.
