SpartanNash is a food solutions company formed by the 2013 merger of Spartan Stores and Nash Finch. It has Wholesale and Retail segments: Wholesale distributes a wide range of grocery products, including national brands and private-label items, to independent grocers and military commissaries across the U.S. through a large distribution network, while Retail operates corporate-owned supermarkets that sell food and services to consumers. The combined model lets SpartanNash serve both business customers and individual shoppers, expanding its reach in the grocery market. It differentiates itself by jointly running wholesale distribution and company-owned retail, including support for military commissaries, and by offering its own private-label products. Its goal is to provide a full range of grocery products and services across the food supply chain to meet needs across the market.
