Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification and training in diesel engine repair from a vocational school or community college is required, including training in drive trains, preventive maintenance, inspection, engine architecture, and electronic systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of vehicles, electrical systems, and diesel-engine mechanisms is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel-engine components and operating mechanisms is required.
  • Knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment is required.
  • Ability to use mechanical and electrical power tools is required.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and relevant electronics is required.
  • Proficiency with diesel-engine diagnostic software is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 75 pounds, bend, kneel, stand for long periods, work in confined spaces and at heights, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions is required.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare work plans after fully scoping vehicle issues.
  • Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines, interpret the results, and offer suitable solutions.
  • Inspect vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts.
  • Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and associated parts.
  • Conduct field visits during emergencies or sudden breakdowns.
  • Test-drive repaired vehicles to assess their performance.
  • Complete oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks.
  • Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and curiosity while contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Class A or B commercial driver's license is preferred but not required.
  • Welding skills are a plus.
