  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, or five years of experience.
  • At least three years of experience as a project engineer or assistant project manager in the construction industry with a general contractor.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface directly with owners' representatives, the architecture/engineering team, building departments, and other team members.
  • Intermediate finance skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with the administrative and technical management of construction projects.
  • Review design documents, identify key subcontractors, investigate sites, analyze labor markets, identify long-lead items, develop bid packages, participate in pre-bid conferences, develop the Project Procedures Manual, and coordinate and obtain permitting.
  • Approve miscellaneous job expenditures, assist in preparing and processing monthly owner requisitions, manage the change order process, assist in loss-control management, administer the Owner Purchase Program, and manage project assets.
  • Develop scopes of work, establish filing systems and project meeting schedules, develop purchasing schedules and quality-control and safety programs, obtain insurance and bonds, distribute project directories, and mobilize onto the site.
  • Prepare, distribute, and update detailed project schedules, resource-loaded schedules, monthly updates, and look-ahead schedules while complying with contract requirements and coordinating with corporate scheduling.
  • Administer document control, requests for information, critical-item lists, monthly reports, correspondence, project meetings, and project-risk evaluation and response.
  • Conduct trade preconstruction meetings; coordinate subcontractors, vendors, permit inspections, specialty inspections, equipment start-up and commissioning, material expediting, rental equipment, and daily site cleanup.
  • Maintain subcontractor relationships, quality-control programs, and loss-control and safety programs; manage shop drawing processes and perform daily jobsite walks.
  • Interact regularly with the owner and comply with the client's needs.
  • Obtain certificates of occupancy and other government approvals; submit as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranties, and project history reports; complete punch lists, asset transfers, subcontract closeout, record archiving, owner move-in and start-up, and warranty-period services.
  • Participate in company-sponsored events, task-team committees, industry organizations, company presentations, project public-relations events, college recruiting, general recruiting, employee training, and other positive public-relations activities.
  • Participate in training, continuing education, seminars, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
