Job Description:
Please note: this is a hybrid role based at the SpartanNash corporate headquarters in Byron Center, MI (Grand Rapids area).
Position Summary:
This entry-level Workday Analyst role supports the effective operation of the company’s HR system (Workday) to meet organizational and operational business needs and will be an integral part of our Human Resources Technology team. The role involves assisting with HR projects such as system implementations, data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. It includes balancing assigned tasks with ad hoc reporting and troubleshooting while collaborating with HR Business Partners and end users.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Monitor HR system performance and identify areas for improvement. Propose process improvements and innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with audit and internal controls.
Assist in the implementation of system changes, including testing and documentation.
Participate in reviewing, testing, and implementing HR system upgrades and configuration projects, collaborating with team members to document processes and results.
Help maintain data integrity in HR systems by conducting data analysis, ensuring timely issue resolution, and driving automation where feasible.
Support creating and maintaining queries and reports (scheduled or ad hoc) to meet business needs, working with team members to define requirements.
Provide functional and technical support for HR systems by troubleshooting issues, researching data discrepancies, and ensuring processes flow smoothly. Employ root cause analysis and data-driven decision-making to diagnose issues, streamline workflows, and optimize system performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Payroll, IT, etc.) to recommend and implement solutions to meet business requirements.
Document system processes and assist in training users on system functionality.
Stay updated on HR systems trends, tools, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to improve current processes.
Participate in user group meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and share insights.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Bachelor’s Degree (Required) in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems or related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Interest in HR systems, data analysis, and reporting; prior experience in these areas is a plus but not required.
Analytical skills to work with data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
Critical thinking skills to thoroughly analyze complex system requirements, identify potential challenges, and devise innovative solutions.
Logical reasoning skills to evaluate system processes, identify inconsistencies, and design cohesive solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with various levels of the organization.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and managing multiple priorities.
Basic understanding of relational databases and reporting tools is an advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
