  • An Active or Current DoD Security Clearance: minimum Secret with the ability to be upgraded to a TS/SCI DoD Security Clearance.
  • US citizenship, in possession of a US valid driver’s license, and a US valid passport
  • Passed a pre-employment drug screening
  • High School/GED, Navy C School, or Trade School, with 5 years’ direct experience in C4I ship systems, electronics, and networks.
  • Independent self-starter experience in ship systems installations, upgrades, and repair activities. Experienced in supporting Mission Readiness Availabilities/ Mission Readiness Reviews.
  • Previous SURTASS underway experience including experience in maintenance, and providing troubleshooting and repair of communications, navigation, and sonar surveillance systems.
  • Be willing to work in Virginia Beach, VA CONUS Location, or OCONUS locations in Japan or Scotland, UK., Please be able to provide which location you prefer in order of preference.
  • Be able to travel 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to SURTASS mission systems to troubleshoot, repair, test, and return to service.
  • Conduct all tenets of In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) responsibilities in accordance with SPAWARINST 5400 (series) and intermediate and depot level maintenance on SURTASS mission systems and support handling equipment.
  • Generate reports for SURTASS mission systems status as directed by the Government.
  • Conduct refresher training (REFTRA) in accordance with contract/Navy requirements.
  • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Changes (ECs), and Requests for Variance (RFV), and develop schedules for implementation.
  • Utilize the WILD trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action in the Job Sequence Number (JSN)/Military Sealift Command (MSC) Work Request (WKRQ) log.
  • Review technical manuals, publications, and maintenance procedures, and provide recommended revisions to the Government.
  • Identify and report system/software design problems and deficiencies for mission systems.
  • Provide on-the-job training (OJT) and technical training to O&M Technician Crewmembers and document training in accordance with contract/Navy requirements.
  • Support Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), In Process Reviews (IPRs), and Integrated Logistics Overhauls (ILOs).
  • Perform Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) analysis of mission system equipment. Provide data in support of the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Perform and support configuration management for the mission system(s).
  • Maintain and update Technical Data Packages (TDP) for the mission system(s)
  • Perform exterior maintenance and preservation on modular mission systems.
  • Participate in inspections, Material Assessment and Readiness Testing (SMART) inspections.
  • These positions are for Full-Time members of the FST and report to the FST manager.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with multiple types of array systems including active and passive
  • Navy operations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance experience with secure networks, and sonar, navigation, and communications systems.
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level III certification, IT DoD baseline certification requirement
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology OR graduate of US Navy electronics "C" school or equivalent civilian electronics technical school.
  • Prior Formal Navy Training/Education/Schooling for FSTs missions:
  • RDC C-School
  • IT C-School
  • SURTASS FST School
  • Military Veterans and Spouses are encouraged to apply!
  • Former military, Navy experience is preferred.
  • Some of these position are located in Yokohama, Japan!
  • Although operations are based in Norfolk Virginia, SURTASS routinely operates from ports in Glasgow Scotland, Rota Spain, Japan, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Port Hueneme California, and many other ports of opportunity to include Yokohama Japan and Kure Japan (15 miles from the city of Hiroshima) Please provide your preferred work location in order of preference.
