Summary of Duties:

Serve as lead instructor for Italian 2055 Mafia Movies in Autumn 2026. Teach large-enrollment distance course in English and work with graders. Course examines Italian and American mafia movies made from 1905 to the present day and traces the history of the Italian and Italian American Mafias. Other expectations include interacting with students during regular office hours; attending meetings when required; and contributing to a positive work environment. Appointment: 25% as instructor; if assuming grading work, 50-75% (per 50 students).

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Italian, Film/Media Studies, or related discipline;
• record of excellence in teaching, especially at the college/university level;
• understanding of current best practices in pedagogy;  
• ability to teach large enrollment course taught in English;
• ability to teach online;
• ability to work with graders, assigning tasks, distributing work fairly, and monitoring quality and timeliness of work;
• ability to work collegially and effectively with both students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as foster an inclusive classroom environment;
• willingness to participate in professional development opportunities.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Italian or Media Studies, or related discipline, with a focus in film, media and/or cultural studies.
• familiarity with tools for synchronous online teaching.
