  • Be a current American University undergraduate student enrolled in the School of International Service.
  • Have an interest in foreign policy and national security.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Be able to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.
  • Have knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Canva, and social media platforms.
  • Be skilled with the Microsoft Office suite.
Responsibilities
  • Brainstorm, plan, and execute Foreign Policy and Global Security-related events for undergraduate students alongside the Undergraduate Coordinator faculty member.
  • Coordinate with the Academic Program Coordinator to run events and order supplies as needed.
  • Advertise events and support outreach through social media and email campaigns.
  • Share special opportunities, announcements, and resources with undergraduate students interested in foreign policy.
  • Perform administrative tasks relating to the execution and development of events and projects, as determined by the Undergraduate Coordinator and Academic Program Coordinator.
  • Generate promotional flyers for departmental events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior membership in the Foreign Policy and Global Security department’s previous “House of Owls” club is a plus.
  • Prior administrative support or event coordination experience is helpful.
