Requirements
  • Typically has the education associated with an associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Maine driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience performing tasks in an accurate and organized manner in order to apply, monitor, and enforce Parking rules and regulations, and to prepare and maintain related records.
  • A commitment to understanding and applying safe work methods while maintaining a sense of purpose in completing tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, the campus community and external clients and customers in a pleasant and productive manner.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace, with the ability to perform accurate data entry, maintain well-organized datasets, and apply standard formatting to documents and spreadsheets.
  • Experience providing exemplary customer service and commitment to understanding and exceeding customer expectations with a cheerful sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm while dealing with stressful situations.
  • Recordkeeping principles.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring employees are trained and that they follow policies and procedures; training new personnel and providing ongoing guidance; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and assists with hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Communicates with staff, students, faculty and others regarding parking & transportation issues. Responds to questions and complaints; investigates reported parking violations, lot hazards, and other issues of concern. Provides information, takes action, and/or follows up, as appropriate.
  • Enforces parking rules & regulations: patrols lots for violations, issues warnings or citations to violators, authorizes the removal of vehicles by towing as necessary and appropriate.
  • Supports campus lot closures in partnership with Events & Hospitality, UMaine Police, and others.
  • Takes regular lot counts to inventory total and/or available spaces by type and location.
  • Reviews reports and maintains regular records.
  • Analyses data to monitor trends and develop new enforcement strategies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level.
Desired Qualifications
  • Coursework in business, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems, handheld devices, cameras, and related software applications.
  • Experience in parking and/or security.
