Senior Cloud Engineer

Position Description:

Automates the integration of code changes from multiple contributors into a single software project through the use of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) process and tools, and testing frameworks and practices including GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory and uDeploy. Develops software applications with programming languages including PL/SQL with Oracle, Java, J2EE and Spring Framework. Builds, deploys, and maintains applications using Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies -- Kubernetes, Lambda, EC2, Docker, Terracore, Cloud Watch, Route 53, ACM, and EKS. Creates automated Application Programming Interface (API) templates to install IBM MQ and Kafka and monitors services using Datadog and Kibana.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Builds software, and defines and implements development practices, standards and strategies.

• Works in an Agile environment to enhance firm efficiency.

• Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.

• Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

• Develops original and creative technical solutions toon-going development efforts.

• Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.

• Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

• Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.

• Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.

• Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.

• Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.

• Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and supporting financial security applications.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and supporting financial security applications.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) building and maintaining Java/J2EE-based Spring/Spring-boot applications operating in Tomcat and Java frameworks; and deploying Micro services as Docker and EKS containers on AWS and On-premise echo-systems following the 12 factor compliance principles.

• DE automating CI processes with Jenkins to install Maven and Node builds, perform code quality checks and security checks, and conduct sonar scans; and using Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools -- Terraform, Helm Charts, CFTs and uDeploy -- to streamline the Continuous Delivery (CD) process.

• DE designing integrations for Securities Finance Principle Lending applications with IBM-MQ/SQS messaging systems for secure communications to internal systems and external partners; establishing Network connections using AVI/Route 53 for loads balancing the applications for disaster recovery; overseeing TLS certificates lifecycle using Venafi and ACM; implementing Blue-Green deployment strategies for high availability; and using Apigee Stratum APIs to execute Security Firewall connections between Cloud and AWS datacenters and Disaster Recovery plannings.

• DE monitoring and troubleshooting end-to-end application flows on Linux and Windows operating systems with Splunk and ELK; writing automation scripts using Bash and Python to prioritize the resolutions of repetitive production incidents; and automating the scheduling workflow dependencies using Control-M.
