Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, geography, biology, wildlife management or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience
  • Solid organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Articulate with professional presence and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Understanding of ASTM standards (E1527, E1903) is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Effectively plan/conduct field surveys for Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, wetlands, wildlife and habitat assessments
  • Prepare report documentation, supporting materials and permit applications in support of client projects for a wide variety of industries
  • Conduct wetland delineations and wetland functional assessments in accordance with applicable agency regulations and guidance
  • Conduct vegetation inventories and monitoring
  • Conduct wildlife surveys and habitat assessments for listed species
  • Record, enter, organize, manage, and analyze ecological/environmental data
  • Communicate scientific/technical information to the project manager and team
  • Review environmental reports, permits and related materials
  • Compile and analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports, including literature, methods, protocols, and regulatory rules for special status species
  • Apply current state, federal, and local environmental regulations to develop guidance, prepare permit applications, conduct agency coordination, and serve as project and/or task manager on assigned projects
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, that include other ecologists/scientists, engineers, planners, surveyors, government agencies, landowners and other entities as required
  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM E1527 standards
  • Perform site inspections, historical research, and regulatory database reviews
  • Identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and prepare detailed reports
  • Coordinate field activities such as drilling, sampling, and subcontractor oversight
  • Assist with and/or lead Phase II ESAs, including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling
  • Interpret laboratory analytical data and prepare technical reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Communicate findings clearly to project managers and clients
  • Maintain accurate field notes, documentation, and data management
  • Working outdoors, sometimes exposed to inclement weather conditions
  • Walking distances of up to 5 miles per day over rugged, heavily vegetated terrain
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Wearing various required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Working with handheld data collectors and GPS software and equipment
Desired Qualifications
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with soil and groundwater sampling techniques
  • Familiarity with GIS, environmental databases, and report preparation tools
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
