Requirements
  • A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of complex paediatric care experience.
  • Paediatric complex-care experience involving most of the following interventions: tracheostomy care, ventilators, oral, nasal and tracheal suctioning, G and J tube feeding, BiPAP or CPAP, cough assist, oxygenation, and seizure monitoring.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization, planning, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience setting and achieving goals.
  • Customer service and leadership skills.
  • A negative TB test completed within the last year.
  • College of Nurses of Ontario registration and a Registered Nurse certificate in good standing.
  • COVID vaccination receipts, subject to an exemption under Ontario's Human Rights Code.
  • A valid criminal record check completed within the last year.
  • Valid CPR and first-aid certification.
  • Valid WHMIS certification from the past year.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify and report client-care concerns to the team.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the overnight care of paediatric and geriatric clients throughout Toronto and the GTA.
  • Visit clients in their homes to assess care, provide consultations, update care plans, replenish personal protective equipment, and conduct supervisory visits.
  • Meet prospective clients and their families to assess needs and develop individualized care plans.
  • Introduce caregivers to clients and provide in-person orientations about client routines, preferences, and care requirements.
  • Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentorship to field staff in clients' homes and in the in-house skills lab.
  • Support field staff in developing and maintaining competencies for complex medical and personal-support needs.
  • Provide real-time clinical guidance and support to overnight field staff.
  • Complete nursing assessments, clinical interventions, and other nursing duties when required.
  • Conduct regular client check-in visits and keep documentation accurate and current.
  • Develop, review, and update individualized client care plans.
  • Complete employee intervention chart audits and follow up on identified concerns.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support to field staff.
  • Complete quality-assurance reviews and monitor compliance with company policies, clinical standards, documentation requirements, and client-specific care plans.
  • Prepare reports and clinical updates for service-frequency extension requests.
  • Cover shifts when necessary to ensure clients receive essential care.
  • Support the evening scheduling team with clinical questions and concerns.
  • Work the specified full-time overnight schedule from Monday through Friday.
  • Remain awake and alert during all shifts while completing active field and administrative duties.
