Experience Level
  • 4-6 years of legal experience, with a focus on insurance coverage
  • Experience with private passenger automobile policy defense and coverage interpretation and litigation, which includes both first (UM, COMP, COLL, PIP, MED PAY) and third party (BI, PD) coverage types
  • Litigation experience, including Declaratory Judgment Action work and other brief writing
  • Bar Licensed to practice law and in good standing in one of the 50 states or DC
  • Remote employees are eligible to work from: AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI
  • Develop coverage opinions and provide legal counsel to claims, underwriting & customer advocate staff (i.e. “Internal Clients”)
  • Consult on complex claims
  • Conduct legal research for Internal Clients
  • Assist the Claims team on questions of law and interpretation
  • Assist the Underwriting team on questions of coverage and Insurance Policy language interpretation
  • Assist Internal Clients with legal questions and interpretation of contract language, statutes, laws, and other regulations or guidelines
  • Monitor changes in insurance law and legal trends
  • Manage and add to the legal research library
  • Provide fast and effective work-product
  • Respond to Internal Client inquiries with timely and pragmatic advice
  • Support dispute resolution and manage litigation
  • Work with Insurance Product team to assist with guidance and insight gathered from claims related to policy forms
  • Provide regular Legal training for the Claims team
  • Special legal projects and initiatives with other teams
