Requirements
  • High School Diploma required
  • At least three years of work experience in an administrative support job
  • Experience in scheduling in medical office or hospital required
  • Basic medical terminology required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
Responsibilities
  • Creates reports, spreadsheets, and statistics to assist in analyzing block time utilization by surgeon or specialty and report to OR Committee
  • Tracks release of allocated block time, cancellation reports, and surgeon utilization reports (individually and group)
  • Solicits surgical volume when block time becomes available by contacting surgeon offices in order to maximize the utilization of the available OR time
  • Enters and transmits charges to maintain OR inventory and capture maximum revenue
  • Performs routine administrative tasks necessary in the maintenance of scheduling system
  • Coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures for the OR, OB and cardioversion
  • Reviews, analyzes and modifies scheduling module to incorporate changes recommended by the OR Committee
  • Schedules patients for pre admission testing and schedules anesthesia support for procedures in Radiology and ACU
  • Schedules necessary equipment for scheduled surgical procedures with sales representatives
  • Covers for ACU scheduler when need arises
