Requirements
  • Three to four years of Quality Control, non-destructive testing, non-destructive examination, and/or NACE experience in the maritime or oil and gas industry is preferred.
  • Alternatively, five to six years of welding or fitting experience in a fabrication shop or shipyard is preferred.
  • Level 2 visual testing, penetrant testing, and magnetic particle testing certifications are required.
  • Knowledge of welding materials and codes/specifications is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, codes/specifications, sketches, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate general inspection measuring and testing equipment and use general computer systems.
  • Must wear hearing, eye, head protection, and proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to climb, lift up to 50 pounds, traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights, and work in confined spaces and around hot or hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
  • Perform quality control/assurance and field inspections, including preparation of inspection reports and sketches.
  • Complete and document inspection results through reports and logs, including summaries of re-work and waste.
  • Maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products and recording quality results.
  • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting or returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
  • Coordinate with production, customers, and third-party surveyors as required.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • High School/GED education.
  • Three to four years of Quality Control, non-destructive testing, non-destructive examination, and/or NACE experience in the maritime or oil and gas industry.
  • NDE/NDT and/or NACE skills.
  • Knowledge of welding materials and codes/specifications.
