Requirements
  • A secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering, mathematics, physics, technical or related discipline
  • 7 years of experience
  • Ability to work an assigned task in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures or specifications independently without direction
  • Works well within a team

  • Ability to absorb classified material prior to independent work
  • Comfortable working within all regimes of engineering disciplines including ship architecture, electrical, electronics, piping, structures and HVAC engineering

Responsibilities
  • Support PMS450 evaluation of proposed designs and arrangements
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of ship specification sections and first tier references interpretation of technical requirements and verification of program compliance
  • Review technical submittals, providing assessments of issues/recommendations, consolidating differing points of view and defining options and pros/cons
  • Liaison with the Red-Box TWHs and 08 for the systems under their cognizance
  • Have in-depth knowledge of how every aspect of the Virginia Class submarine, the engines, the screws, the design, all affect the acoustic signature and how to minimize it to increase survivability
  • Assist the SDMs/DSDMs/MAITs in de-conflicting differing technical viewpoints and program constraints
  • Co-leads NAVSEA Ship's Silencing Working Group, including conducting NRP audits/ship checks to validate ships as-built configuration
  • Manage commitment updates/status
  • Identify technical issues that need resolution and work with SITs to facilitate resolution; facilitate timely decisions and review/adjudication of all design products and written correspondence
  • Act as a liaison with other PMS450 team members and NAVSEA05 Technical Warrant Holders
  • Primary customer contact for all activities, regularly meeting with and updating the customer on project status
  • Establish and maintain relationships with program manager, deputy program manager and/or technical lead
  • Lead program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Provide acquisition management planning and execution support
  • Lead technical discussions for project reviews, including preparing and delivering formal briefings
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Active duty experience in the submarine service is a plus
  • Some experience with Navy acquisition and/or In-Service Programs
  • Recent experience in Team Submarine would be ideal
