Requirements
  • A PhD or equivalent, and considerable years' experience working in a related discipline such as epidemiology, statistics, public health, health economics or medicine
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of cancer screening and/or early diagnosis and the evidence required to support implementation of early detection methods
  • Good understanding of Health Technology Assessment processes (e.g. NICE technology appraisals)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly
  • Experience with commonly used modeling methods for cost-effectiveness analysis such as Markov models and/or discrete event simulation
  • A good knowledge of cancer care provision within the NHS and interest in the developing landscape
  • Ability to programme in R
  • Commercial experience and/ or close involvement in running clinical cancer trials
  • Knowledge of NICE processes and levels of required evidence
  • Previous experience of management of external consultancies
  • Knowledge of cancer biology
  • Understanding of GDPR and experience of data access processes
Responsibilities
  • Lead the UK health economic analysis plan for the NHS-Galleri trial, working closely with GRAIL's HEOR team
  • Commission and oversee all GRAIL-funded UK health economics work packages, ensuring completion of high quality, timely outputs and manage external consultants
  • Act as the lead contact for NHSE health economists and ensure productive and effective working relationships with our NHS-commissioned partners
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of NHS data sources to ensure appropriate datasets are selected and accessed for analysis
  • Use your relevant networks and knowledge of the literature to understand and overcome implementation challenges, creating supportive evidence where appropriate
  • Generate novel ideas for research projects in support of NHS implementation of MCED screening and symptomatic applications
  • Undertake analyses, programming, literature reviews and evidence syntheses
  • Contribute to writing manuscripts focused on UK health economics and epidemiology, as well as support of NHS delivery
  • Contribute to the development of comms materials (e.g. presentations), to communicate the HEOR argument around MCED screening technology
  • Support cross-organisation initiatives, working at a senior level with internal and external stakeholders including our senior academic partners
  • Support timely execution of the publication plan, including liaising with external academics and US GRAIL colleagues
  • Contribute to a positive, inquisitive and collaborative UK team culture
  • Maintain an awareness of relevant new publications, and pertinent literature
  • Point of contact for UK health economic related queries
