Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Maintains current New York State licensure and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with continuing education credits as required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible work experience within the field of Imaging Sciences, with at least 2 years dedicated to computed tomography.
Responsibilities
  • Participates in the management of the technical, administrative, quality, and personnel management functions of the imaging section.
  • Provides general supervision and technical support to the Imaging section and functions at the highest level of a staff technologist as needed.
  • Supervises CT Technologists and support staff in the daily operations of the assigned area.
  • Provides direction to Imaging technical and support staff to ensure smooth and compliant operation of the assigned area.
  • Works with Nursing, Clerical, Information Technology, Faculty, and staff to achieve productive, efficient, and safe patient throughput while maintaining customer and patient/family satisfaction.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments within computed tomography and imaging sciences.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in downtime procedures and acts as a super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced to the department.
  • Adjusts equipment and determines proper imaging techniques to produce high-quality images; reviews data for accuracy, troubleshoots problems and discrepancies, and reports them to relevant parties.
  • Oversees daily operations with accountability for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel; counsels and directs personnel as needed.
  • Serves as a clinical consultant to CT staff, providing real-time guidance to ensure high-quality imaging and patient safety guidelines are met.
  • Assists in assignment scheduling of personnel.
  • Assists with timekeeping and payroll functions.
  • Manages inventory and compliance of all CT equipment and completes daily calibration of imaging equipment when appropriate, following manufacturer and Joint Commission standards.
  • Escalates and responds to patient care concerns and reports issues to senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Participates in the interview and performance review process.
  • Provides supervisory coverage for the assigned area in the absence of the Manager.
  • Participates in meetings and committees, prepares the department for regulatory surveys, and encourages staff education to improve the quality of care delivered in Imaging Services.
