Requirements
  • The pay range per hour is $24.50-25.50.
  • Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position.

  • The internship is a paid 40 hr./week, hands-on training program to develop and prepare for operations leadership.
  • This internship is designed to teach individuals how to lead within a supply chain facility.
  • Gain an understanding of how Target’s supply chain business works and what it takes to excel in a management role.
  • Lead and support the execution of daily operations by working beside your team members and learn to lead, motivate and influence a team, including the opportunity to lead a department.
  • Work closely with a Mentor and participate in extensive training.
  • Develop leadership skills and knowledge of retail business fundamentals.
  • Experience building and managing a team culture across the building.
  • Problem solving and change management skills.
  • Knowledge of departments within the distribution center such as Inbound/Outbound/Warehousing.
  • Responsibilities include leading daily operations and supporting execution of priorities.
  • Maintaining a high standard of quality/inventory accuracy through standardization of processes.
  • Tracking KPI’s such as safety, teamwork, quality and productivity.
  • Carrying out process improvement initiatives using CI methodologies such as Gemba, Fish Bone Analysis, and 5 why’s.
  • Administering the communication between the IT and the Operation team to address system issues and conduct testing in the Warehouse Management System.
  • Recruiting and mentoring team members to adopt a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Leading daily meetings for the operational team and planning meetings.
  • Plan daily goals and organize shift plans.
  • Provide summary of results and key learnings.
  • Conduct audits around standard adherence with safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Conduct safety walks and follow-ups on attendance and coaching.
  • Partner with leaders regarding team member performance and deliver timely feedback.
  • Provide new ideas and recommend solutions for business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate willingness to take risks and learn.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; foster an inclusive culture.
  • Carry out department duties through internship rotations.
  • Understand business reporting and guest insights to identify opportunities.
  • Gain understanding of all business areas to develop business acumen.
  • Work with building leaders to set goals and expectations.
  • Participation in school or extracurricular activities and experience in leadership roles.
  • Strong interest in working in retail, specifically within supply chain facilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Spending time on the facilities floor helping to lead amongst team members and aligning the team in daily business priorities.
  • Working alongside team members to lead through daily priorities.
  • Maintaining a high standard of quality/inventory accuracy through standardization of processes while ensuring employee accountability.
  • Tracking KPI’s such as safety, teamwork, quality and productivity to identify gaps and drive actions.
  • Carrying out process improvement initiatives by leveraging continuous improvement methodologies to create a lean defect-free operation.
  • Administering the communication between the IT and the Operation team to address system issues and conduct testing in the Warehouse Management System.
  • Recruiting and mentoring team members to adopt a continuous improvement mindset, and guide them to leadership roles.
  • Addressing team member concerns and removing operational hurdles to ensure smooth operations and goal attainment.
  • Leading daily meetings for the operational team, and presenting at daily planning meetings with peer/leadership team.
  • Plan daily goals and organize shift plans to achieve targets at start of shift.
  • Provide summary of results around plan attainment, share hurdles, successes, and key learnings to apply moving forward.
  • Conduct audits around standard adherence with safety, quality, and productivity, provide feedback and coaching.
  • Conduct safety walks and report findings.
  • Follow up on team member attendance and coaching.
  • Partner with leaders regarding team member performance by coaching, training, and timely feedback.
  • Provide new ideas and solutions for business or team opportunities.
  • Demonstrate willingness to take risks and learn; seek opportunities for growth and development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior internship experience in retail or supply chain leadership is preferred.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems and enterprise software such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
