Requirements
  • Minimum 12+ years of experience in Compliance, Legal, Audit, and/or Risk Management, with experience supporting consumer financial institutions and technology companies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree (J.D., M.B.A.) strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of audit principles, methodology, tools, and processes (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring).
  • Prior experience in both 1st and 2nd line of defense capacities within consumer financial services industries.
  • Prior regulatory examiner experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to act decisively and independently to resolve sophisticated issues.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required for meetings, conferences, and other events.
Responsibilities
  • Provide an independent assessment of the effectiveness of the company’s first and second lines of defense, and constantly evaluate and monitor the company’s risk management, governance, and internal control processes.
  • Stay current with risk trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure the function can advise on emerging risks.
  • Supervise 3rd party audits and exams. Report findings, issues, and recommendations to the executive risk committee, the board, and board risk/audit committee, and develop corrective action plans to address identified issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. Engage with regulators and provide necessary information and reports as required.
  • Improve business processes, risk management, and internal controls and responsible for building and implementing roadmap for senior management/board approval.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal, Compliance, Security, and Operations, to ensure alignment between business practices and risk and compliance assurance goals.
  • Drive business transformation and controls. Navigate complex changes and challenging situations, with a focus on progress while building strong relationships and leading through influence.
  • Responsible for developing and building out the assurance team.
