Job Description

• Conduct  ePMR/HAMR HDD products media process development and the technology transfer to offshore operation. Oversee the integration of the new technologies to the new product media designs.

• Responsible for ePMR/HAMR products media process capability improvement and optimization by working together with US based process/equipment engineering teams and media factories.

• Lead  ePMR/HAMR media projects for evaluation of the media design process robustness and explore design tradeoffs; reach decision and meet the product development schedules.

• Interface with process, equipment, HDD teams and Asia counterpart process teams to finalize & optimize product media configurations.

• The Principal Engineer must establish close collaboration with peers and must exercise creativity to enable progress in staging ePMR/HAMR milestone media.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S, degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, ECE or related field.
• 3-5 years of prior experience in disk drive or thin films industry is highly desired.
• The candidate should have a strong research background in Magnetic thin film media, thin film synthesis, magnetic material properties, advanced characterization and knowledge in magnetic recording.
• Experience with statistical data analysis and Design of Experiment (DOE) is required.
• Demonstrated innovation abilities, good written, verbal, interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
