Requirements
  • Two to three years of experience providing direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency in implementing Individual Program Plans, Individual Service Plans, and Behavior Support Plans.
  • Ability to make discretionary decisions that prioritize individual safety and autonomy.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with families and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain professional ethics, including punctual attendance.
  • Ability to provide care with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for personal values.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and document observations accurately.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Tuberculosis clearance in accordance with California public health guidelines.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance when transporting individuals.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist individuals with mobility as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25–40 pounds if required.
  • Ability to travel within the community.
Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, person-centered supervision within the individual's home and community.
  • Supervise and occasionally assist with Activities of Daily Living, including bathing, toileting, dressing, personal hygiene, meal preparation, feeding, light housekeeping, and laundry.
  • Supervise medication administration when needed.
  • Accompany or transport individuals to medical and personal appointments.
  • Implement established Behavior Support Plans to prevent and de-escalate outbursts or mental health symptoms.
  • Apply crisis prevention and intervention techniques, such as Safety-Care or CPI, during severe episodes to ensure immediate safety.
  • Observe and report changes in health, behavior, and environments to the supervisor.
  • Complete daily logs and progress notes in compliance with Department of Developmental Services, Regional Center, and agency standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and other activities as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with individuals with complex behavioral or mental health needs.
  • Prior training in Safety-Care or crisis intervention, such as CPI or equivalent.
