Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field, or an Associate's Degree with six years of progressive experience of engineering level work.
  • Ability to work hours in excess of normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and City-wide emergencies.
  • A valid driver's license, as indicated by the required DMV transcript.
Responsibilities
  • Review preliminary engineering reports, plans, as-builts, construction cost estimates, specifications, calculations, and computations in accordance with City, State, and Federal standards and specifications and the Public Works Design Standards Manual.
  • Review project plans and studies for infrastructure-related projects, including conceptual designs, preliminary engineering reports, geotechnical reports, cost estimates, design calculations and computations, specifications, and project manuals.
  • Oversee consultants performing quality assurance and quality control of Public Works Capital Improvement Program projects.
  • Coordinate limited quality assurance and quality control reviews with other City departments for projects affecting Public Works assets.
  • Prepare project cost estimates.
  • Perform and/or manage engineering studies.
  • Contact administration to assure City standards are met.

  • Experience relevant to the Engineer I, Engineer II, or Engineer III classification, as reflected in the candidate's qualifications and application.
