Requirements
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (M.S. preferred)
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role
  • Proven track record in leading teams responsible for building and scaling e-commerce platforms or consumer-facing products
  • Extensive experience in modern web technologies, with deep expertise in JavaScript (Node.js, Vue.js), TypeScript, Fastly and Python
  • Proficiency in cloud services such as AWS (Serverless/SAM, etc.), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure management (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL), search engines (Elasticsearch), and caching solutions (Redis)
  • Experience with high-performance, high-availability applications in production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire engineers to meet ambitious technical goals
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams
  • Deep familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and supporting incremental delivery of business value
Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, growth, and technical excellence while promoting continuous learning and career development
  • Drive technical strategy and oversee the development of scalable, high-performance web applications for CNN Digital Commerce
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to align engineering, product, and business teams for data-driven decision-making and streamlined product development
  • Lead efforts to improve engineering workflows, tooling, and processes for operational excellence
  • Implement and advocate for agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) and support continuous delivery practices
  • Drive initiatives around monitoring application health, infrastructure, and code performance to ensure system reliability and optimal user experiences
  • Drive innovation by adopting modern technologies, optimizing architecture, and ensuring long-term maintainability through code reviews and refactoring
