Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering, marine or other relevant technical discipline.
  • Marine Class 1 Master Certificate of Competency.
  • Gas Endorsement although not required, are advantageous.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience working in marine and terminal operations.
  • Extensive experience working in the LNG marine industry.
  • Experience in developing and managing terminal operations.
  • Extensive experience in managing 3rd party marine operations, including pilotage, tugs, line handling etc.
  • Port operational experience and working with multiple Stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and administrative abilities are required.
  • An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization, with individuals/groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies.
  • Able to work with a culturally diverse workforce of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to operate and maintain the LNG terminal and liquefaction production facilities.
  • Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers and the facility level workers all of whom ensure world class operations.
  • Organized and be able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy; able to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Optimoor and MIS Mainstay is advantageous.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
Responsibilities
  • Provide SME marine support and advice across VG business, developing and building safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective marine operations.
  • Work with VG terminals on a day-to-day basis, providing support, guidance and oversight. Work with the Marine Supervisor to maintain safe marine terminal operations to manage off-take assurance, minimizing down time and maximizing berth availability.
  • Build on the existing marine operations across VG, developing business models that streamline and standardize marine terminal operations across the business to maximise returns.
  • Develop and implement VG Marines Operations procedures and policies.
  • Work with and support VG to obtain and maintain permits and certification, including dredging permits, USCG inspections, FERC etc.
  • Develop, evaluate and execute marine terminal contracts. Support other VG stakeholders, providing SME advice and support where required.
  • Marine SME advisor to the VG project team throughout marine terminal project development, including construction and start-up, ensuring readiness for marine operations to first cargo.
  • Manage, build and maintain relationships with marine vendors and support services, including marine Pilots, towage, line handing etc. directly involved in supporting VG marine operations.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Operations team to schedule LNG tankers at VG LNG terminals, providing oversight on marine operations and any terminal activity which may impact terminal operations.
  • Support the marine assurance team with in-depth knowledge and experience of marine assurance, including vetting, terminal compatibility and mooring analysis.
  • Manage the vessel clearance process, clearing vessels as per VG’s standards.
  • Work with Buyers and Operators to clear nominated vessels, working through issues that may arise impacting off-take assurance.
  • Oversee the completion of terminal assurance audits of VG LNG terminals as per OCIMF MTMSA guidelines.
  • Oversee the completion of TMSA and MTMSA audits of 3rd party ship and terminal operations.
  • As part of the leadership team, build a positive safety culture that promotes learning and sharing.
  • Continue to develop marine HSSE process, procedures and policies at VG terminals, working in conjunction with the existing HSSE departments.
  • Conduct audits of cargo and marine terminal documentation, highlighting areas for improvement and assist in developing mitigation and training plans where necessary.
  • Complete periodic inspections and reviews of marine 3rd party vendors.
  • Support the exercise of local oil spill and security response plans and support the management of any ship / shore interface.
  • Manage marine risk across VG marine terminal operations.
  • Maintain the marine risk register.
  • Manage marine risk by constantly identifying, monitoring, assessing and mitigating risk.
  • Manage risk posed by 3rd party marine vendors contracted to Venture Global, including all marine services, working with vendors to reduce risk to ALARP.
  • Deliver cost effective, fit for purpose, marine support. Working through issues and problem solving based on best practices, reasonable care standards and due diligence models.
  • Operate safely within Federal, State, international standards, regulatory and best practice.
  • Support regulatory and environmental compliance.
  • Work with others stakeholders within the VG operations team in the preparation and presentation of materials and other information on the ‘safety case’ for VG’s proprietary systems.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating VG marine operations documents.
  • Be an active member of industry working groups (OCIMF/ SIGTTO).
