Location
Preference is for someone based in the Washington DC Metro area. Remote work within the US is possible. You must be legally authorized to work in the US. Bixal does not provide visa sponsorship.
What will you do?
The Knowledge Management and CLA Director will support Bixal’s KM and CLA practice for USAID and other donors and clients. They will work with the Senior KM and CLA Director to support a portfolio of projects, collaborating with other international and domestic practices and be responsible for the development of new business. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
Project Oversight and Management – 50%
- Support and contribute to a portfolio of projects in the international sector focused on knowledge management, organizational learning and CLA
- Support high-quality outputs, deliverables, and overall implementation.
- Provide hands on support to contracts, including advising with activity startup and closeout.
- Serve as a point of escalation for project issues, including responding to clients, resolving issues, solving problems and helping team members iteratively adapt.
Corporate Initiatives – 20%
- Support the Senior Practice Director in the continued adaptation and implementation of Bixal’s KM and CLA strategy and vision.
- Support learning initiatives to improve impact across the organization and support the roll-out of Bixal approaches.
- Lead learning activities such as after-action reviews (AARs), portfolio level reviews and pause and reflect sessions.
- Collaborate across the international practice and companywide to ensure impactful implementation.
- Represent the company to donors, partners and collaborators to advance the interests of the company.
- Serve as a thought leader and high-level representative for Bixal in the wider development community.
Business Development – 30%
- Capture and develop new business opportunities to expand Bixal’s presence within the international MEL sector.
- Manage staffing assignments and hiring to ensure delivery needs are met on new business capture and proposals.
- Lead proposal solutioning, technical writing and content creation.
- Develop partnering arrangements and select key and non-key personnel for proposals.
- Further define technical objectives by roles and responsibilities to inform staffing structures and level of effort for proposals.
Qualifications
- Masters Degree plus 6 years progressive experience in similar roles.
- A comprehensive understanding of USAID Washington and mission operations.
- New business experience including proposal writing and teaming.
- Proven expertise in knowledge management, organizational learning and/or CLA.
- Passion for developing and/or using learning activities and tools that improve development impact.
- Demonstrated thought leadership in approaches to knowledge management, organizational learning and/or CLA.
- Understanding of USAID’s program cycle.
- Ability to travel at least 15%
Nice to haves
- Experience working directly for USAID in a Mission or Washington is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital development.
- Other language skills.
- Contract management experience.
