Responsibilities
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of consumer financial services matters, including individual lawsuits, arbitrations, and class actions brought under state and federal consumer protection statutes.
  • Set and adjust litigation strategy for cases involving servicing, payments, credit reporting, collections, and related consumer financial activities, with attention to case-specific facts and broader portfolio impact.
  • Perform early case assessments to evaluate regulatory exposure, litigation risk, potential precedent, and downstream implications for similar matters.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Risk, and business partners to ensure litigation positions are aligned with regulatory expectations, internal controls, and consumer protection obligations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outside counsel on assigned matters, providing direction on strategy, managing budgets, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistency with internal playbooks and expectations.
  • Track outcomes and trends across the docket to identify risk patterns, improvement opportunities, and areas where changes in approach may be warranted.
Desired Qualifications
  • Law firm experience is preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes litigation involving consumer protection statutes, financial services products, high-volume consumer claims, arbitrations, and/or class actions.
  • Experience working with regulated financial institutions or servicing platforms is strongly preferred.

Omaha's Grapple raises $1M to make data analytics accessible for nontechnical users

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
