Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in audience development, digital marketing, or a related role within the media or publishing industry.
  • A proven track record of driving audience growth and engagement through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, content distribution strategies, and audience segmentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product and Newsroom, to execute audience development strategies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Passion for journalism, news, and staying informed about current events.
Responsibilities
  • Drive audience development and subscription growth across video, audio, social, large language model surfaces, app stores, and search.
  • Identify how each platform can expand qualified reach, build habitual engagement, and create scalable pathways to registration and subscription.
  • Oversee key growth partnerships, including search engine optimization consulting support.
  • Translate audience reach into subscription outcomes by connecting audience initiatives to registration, newsletter signup, engagement, and conversion.
  • Partner closely with Product, Newsroom, and Acquisition teams to scope, prioritize, and execute audience growth initiatives across brands and platforms.
  • Define and track key performance indicators to measure the success of audience development initiatives.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to stakeholders, highlighting progress, surfacing risks, and recommending optimizations.
  • Help maintain shared roadmaps, coordinate workstreams, and ensure audience goals are translated into actionable plans across multiple teams and brands.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape, including emerging trends and platforms, is highly desirable.
