Responsibilities
  • Understand applicable external regulations and internal policies/SOP's and evaluate compliance status. This includes contributing to the development of inspection checklists, performing inspections, and preparing and presenting results.
  • Develop draft department documents including SOP's and guides.
  • Deliver training to specified audiences. Contribute to development of training presentations and programs.
  • Develop and implement technical skills in either radiation safety, chemical safety, biological safety, hospital safety or a combination of multiple areas. Participate in scholastic study of technical area with preference on plotting a path to certification.
  • Assist as needed (with or without technical expertise) in all safety programs where manual labor is required such as completing data entry, paperwork, or other tasks for large-scale events. Be able to perform on-the-job training for tasks that have been mastered.
  • Communicate effectively with customers with whom there is frequent direct interaction and contribute to communication with external agencies including preparing draft written communications.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental reports for internal and/or external reporting including producing draft versions.
  • Participates on various associated committees, subcommittees and task forces by appointment; provides recommendations and assists with corrective actions.
