Requirements
  • A Patient Care Technician I must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A Patient Care Technician II must have a high school diploma or General Educational Development credential and one of the listed alternatives: an associate or bachelor's degree, qualifying Patient Care Technician I experience, one year of healthcare-facility experience, active nursing-school enrollment with completed Nursing Fundamentals, active enrollment in a healthcare-related field, or certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within two weeks of hire and must be maintained through an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, an American Heart Association-recognized equivalent, or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider certification.
  • The employee must be able to perform the stated standing, sitting, walking, stair-climbing, indoor, outdoor-temperature, elevated-area, confined-space, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, grasping, fine-manipulation, reaching, repetitive-motion, lifting, carrying, force-exertion, vision, depth-perception, peripheral-vision, hearing, tactile-sensory, and motor-function requirements.
  • The employee must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations, work rotating shifts and overtime as required, work in a latex-safe environment, and, where applicable, maintain olfactory sensory function and qualify physically for respirator use.
Responsibilities
  • Report to the Nurse Manager.
  • Perform multi-skilled activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
