Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts (e.g., agreements with home builders, lead generation agreements, vendor agreements, and carrier agreements) to minimize risk and apply consistent legal terms and protections with emphasis on insurance agency and managing general agency strategic agreements
  • Advise on licensing and other regulatory requirements for insurance agency business
  • Manage and/or support all stages of litigation or disputes involving our agency operations including pre-litigation, arbitration, managing outside counsel, as well as regulatory actions and subpoenas
  • Agency compliance including support for training, review, delivery, and support for admitted and non-admitted insurance and non-insurance products
  • General product counseling for Hippo’s agency and digital distribution teams as well as Hippo’s new ventures and non-insurance products teams
  • Research, identify, and mitigate legal risks across the organization
  • Serve as primary legal support to key cross-functional and business stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of legal developments and continue legal education in substantive areas as they relate to the industry and our insurance agency operations in particular
  • Meet legal objectives and OKRs
  • Lead compliance efforts for designated key compliance initiatives of Hippo
  • Responsibility for RESPA compliance for the builders business; FCRA; TCPA and other laws applicable to the digital platforms of Hippo
  • Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal, compliance, and business areas
  • Deliver quality legal products and services in a fast paced environment on a timely basis
