Requirements
  • Five or more years of experience in professional services, ideally gained in a benefit consulting/brokerage firm or health underwriting / actuarial function of an insurance company
  • Advanced knowledge of health and welfare products and services
  • Experience with big data analytic techniques is preferred
  • State Life and Health license required within 90 days of joining
  • Relevant financial experience and/or university degree
  • Progress towards completion of health actuarial designation or CEBS designation (optional)
Responsibilities
  • Substantially contribute to a wide variety of complex analyses and projects involving design, financing, and measurement and financial analysis of the full spectrum of employer health and group benefit programs including medical, dental, life, disability, voluntary benefits, etc.
  • Interface with vendors and client service teams, prepare and communicate complex analyses to clients, and ensure quality standards are met
  • Position yourself to lead financial projects with small-to-midsized clients and coordinate delivery of more complex client deliverables
  • Develop knowledge of varying client complexity by working across different client profiles and roles, including leading clients’ financial/actuarial engagements for a portfolio of small clients or managing FAA resources
  • Be a key member on multiple employer client teams providing financial analyses, outputs and client deliverables across a region
  • Provide direction on benefit plan analysis, design, cost avoidance, risk and funding strategies
  • Review technical and consulting accuracy on client projects, including developing pricing and employee contributions strategies, modelling plan design alternatives and calculating reserves
  • Communicate complex financial/actuarial/analytic results to effectively drive client action
  • Partner with Global Delivery Centers and Client Service teams to deliver superior project management
  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and produce deliverables on time and within budget
  • Demonstrate desire and ability to expand relationships with clients
  • Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve issues with limited information and experience
  • Exhibit polished and well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Display self-starter attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Show strong analytical, creative and integrative skills
  • Ability to direct work of more junior colleagues and provide feedback
  • Possess excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
