Requirements
  • Extensive system-level hardware architecture expertise in robotics, grippers, powertrain and associated technologies including high performance compute, computer vision, sensing and actuation sub-systems.
  • Ability to make tradeoffs for complex systems that span hardware, software and mechanical aspects.
  • Familiarity with system modeling for complex robotic systems.
  • Ability to develop system architecture options that meet requirements, analyze system performance, and make recommendations based on various optimization criteria.
  • Strong system modeling experience at functional and physical levels.
  • Working knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, Ethercat and high-speed real-time serial links.
  • Must have had experience working with outsourced engineering services companies and a diversified network of hardware component OEMs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct the company’s current and future hardware architects to design and develop critical architectural elements: robots, grippers, vision and sensors, safety systems, compute and connectivity, and powertrain and navigation.
  • Develop technical roadmaps, proposing and developing trade off analysis of system architecture options against various cost functions.
  • Deliver engineering solutions for the most challenging architectural problems in early phase concept development (ensuring translation of marketing requirements to product).
  • Be expected to have extensive travel to supplier sites and to partners across North America, E. Asia and the greater European region.
