Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for most duties.
  • Must be able to continuously handle 3-10 pound blanks and shells.
  • Must be able to bend and work in awkward positions.
  • Must have knowledge of basic mechanics and mathematics, with demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Must have experience with testing and gauging equipment, including equipment maintenance.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance tasks and equipment setups.
  • Must be able to read and interpret prints, work instructions, setup instructions, control plans, and other required instructional information.
  • Must be able to complete all required documentation and communicate effectively with supervision, engineering, and management.
  • Must be willing to cross-train in all other Machine Operator 4 Non-Senior Operator roles.
  • Must comply with safety rules and participate in required safety training and safety processes.
  • Must recognize chemical hazard labels and hazardous wastes, follow spill-management procedures, and comply with satellite accumulation rules.
  • Must obtain lockout tags after six months.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain deep draw, trimming, piercing, Udylite, and grit blast machines.
  • Maintain equipment uptime by ensuring materials are available at machine locations and fixtures and wear items are changed at proper intervals.
  • Provide a continuous supply of valve assemblies to production lines to meet production requirements.
  • Perform daily calibration of test equipment, quality inspections, hourly test-sample testing, and required data recording.
  • Perform daily preventive and predictive maintenance while following safety, setup, and work procedures.
  • Set up deep draw machines by installing tooling such as dies, spacers, and rams; use an overhead hoist and attach electrical switches.
  • Start deep draw machines using control panels and check oil levels and operating pressures.
  • Insert blanks into loading slots and visually inspect materials for defects.
  • Inspect shells for quality and to prevent metal buildup on dies.
  • Clean and check presses and dies and make adjustments, including polishing dies, punches, and other tooling.
  • Change or remove die sets and tooling on deep draw, trimming, and piercing machines.
  • Replace filter screens and punch lights and remove oil and sludge from deep draw machines.
  • Adjust conveyor systems for shell sizes and position guides, electrical push rods, and chutes using hand tools and a hoist.
  • Set up and operate trimming machines, adjusting cutters, guides, tooling, switches, machine speed, rams, and gear sets as needed.
  • Check trimmed shells for proper length and remove excess metal.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems and replace dull cutting blades or adjust switches.
  • Set up and operate piercing machines, including adjusting index speed and checking hydraulic oil levels and pressure.
  • Start and adjust the Udylite system, including steam-line valves and dip-tank levels.
  • Check solution temperatures with a thermometer and observe automatic operation for proper functioning.
  • Adjust dip-tank solutions based on titration results to maintain proper strengths and levels.
  • Clean Udylite tanks and heating coils.
  • Start and adjust grit blast machines and monitor cleaning and blasting operations according to written instructions and setup sheets.
  • Load blanks from pallets to the load cradle and start the machine cycle.
  • Move shells and discs to and from the work area when required.
  • Support the training and development of peers.
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Report accidents and injuries, submit safety-improvement suggestions, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Attend hazardous and non-hazardous waste training and manage spills and hazardous waste properly.

Ring Capital joins Enerin's Series A to decarbonise high-temperature industrial heat

Enerin, a Norwegian industrial heat pump technology company, has completed the third tranche of its Series A round, adding Paris-based Ring Capital to its investor consortium. The round includes Climentum Capital, The Footprint Firm, Johnson Controls, Move Energy, PSV Hafnium and Momentum. The company's HoegTemp system delivers thermal energy at temperatures up to 250°C, targeting the industrial heat segment responsible for over 20% of global CO2 emissions. Each installation avoids approximately 36,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over its lifetime by replacing fossil-fuel boilers. Enerin is transitioning from development to serial production, with three active pilots and a recent contract with Roche. The funding will scale manufacturing operations and accelerate product development. CEO Arne Høeg said Ring Capital's involvement strengthens the company's ability to deploy solutions across Europe.

Insteel reports fastest revenue growth among building products stocks despite missing Q4 estimates

Insteel reported Q4 revenues of $159.9 million, up 23.3% year on year, but missed analysts' expectations by 1.3%. The steel wire reinforcing products manufacturer delivered mixed results, beating earnings per share estimates whilst falling short on revenue. Despite achieving the fastest revenue growth among the five commercial building products stocks tracked, Insteel recorded the weakest quarterly performance in the sector. The group collectively beat consensus revenue estimates by 1.2% and saw share prices rise 3.4% on average since earnings. Johnson Controls led the sector with revenues of $5.80 billion, up 6.8% year on year and exceeding expectations by 2.8%. Insteel's stock has risen 3.6% since reporting and currently trades at $34.90.

Johnson Controls to acquire Alloy Enterprises, boosting data center cooling efficiency by up to 35%

Johnson Controls has signed an agreement to acquire Alloy Enterprises, a Boston-based thermal management technology company, to strengthen its position in the data centre cooling market. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 2020, Alloy Enterprises specialises in advanced direct liquid cooling components that can improve thermal management efficiency by up to 35% and reduce pressure drop by up to 75%, resulting in lower overall cooling system energy use. The company's proprietary Stack Forging manufacturing process creates single-piece components with embedded microgeometries for maximum heat transfer. The acquisition complements Johnson Controls' existing thermal management portfolio and aligns with its strategy to deliver differentiated cooling solutions for AI-driven data centres. The transaction is expected to close in fiscal Q3, subject to regulatory approvals.
