The Refrigeration Equipment Mechanic performs the following: install, maintenance, repair heating, central air conditioning, or refrigeration systems, hot-air furnaces; perform skilled mechanical work in overhauling and repairing refrigeration and cooling equipment. This work is performed independently in accordance with standard trade practices, and under the general supervision of a Refrigeration Equipment Mechanic Foreman.
Educational Requirements
- 1st Class Refrigeration Operator and a minimum high pressure Boiler Operator
Experience Requirements
- 1 year of work at the Journeyman level in the areas of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment repair and Maintenance.
- THIS IS A SECOND SHIFT POSITION. MONDAY-FRIDAY
- 2nd Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
Required Tasks
- Services and repairs electrical units on refrigeration and cooling systems.
- Assembles and mounts electrical wiring circuits, controls, and recording devices on cooling systems.
- Balances, adjusts, and sets controls, such as expansion refrigeration and cooling systems.
- Removes air from systems and charges systems with specified amount and type of refrigerant.
- Maintains and repairs gas unit heaters and boilers: inspects and replaces gas valves on boilers: sets and controls gas pressure on boilers.
- Maintains and repairs exhaust fans, air compressors, pumped, and other apparatus.
- Performs other duties assigned.
