The Motorola Solutions Avtec Scout Team designs world-class end-to-end solutions for public safety, commercial and consumer markets. The team specializes in utilizing mission critical radio technologies such as APCO P25, TETRA, DMR and LTE along with cutting edge industry technologies such as Android, Wearables, Advance Audio, Connectivity and Software to build solutions for our customers. We create world-class accessories, wearables and companion device as part of the Eco-system for our enterprise, commercial and public safety industry.
Job Description
As a member of the Engineering Development Team, you will have the opportunity to support Motorola Solutions’ goals of creating new features and processes for the Scout product line. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of software engineering, quality assurance, and general development skills. Every day can be different, and it is your responsibility to learn and optimistically support the Engineering department and your team. This internship runs during the summer of 2025 and is intended to be a full-time role.This role is not designed to be performed remotely; candidate must be able to work on-site at our facility in Lexington, SC.
Responsibilities may include:
Participate in a development role on an Agile team with other engineers.
Develop high quality code for new Scout features.
Develop automated unit tests for features.
Produce development artifacts for features produced (design documents, unit tests, acceptance tests, code reviews, etc.).
Give input to ongoing process improvement discussions (continuous improvement).
Basic Requirements
Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering (CE, EE) with some knowledge of software development.
Will have already completed at least 2-3 classes on basic programming (JavaScript / HTML). Programming experience with C#, C++, and/or SQL a plus.
Must graduate on or after December 2025.
Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students).
