Requirements
  • 10+ years of relevant technical experience, including 6+ years of experience in a leadership role managing people and teams within technical functions.
  • A solid background in delivering cloud and software-as-a-service platforms.
  • Experience with modern software-as-a-service and cloud-based infrastructures, including scaling, leading, and securing an ecosystem of applications with proactive strategies and roadmaps.
  • A record of accomplishment leading information technology transformational initiatives in sophisticated environments.
  • Success using information technology service management practices based on Information Technology Infrastructure Library methodologies and agile philosophies such as DevOps.
  • A record of accomplishment building and effectively managing large teams and putting scalable processes and infrastructure in place.
  • Demonstrable ability to formulate a high-level strategy, convert it into a tactical plan, and execute that plan.
  • A hands-on operating style and a long-term point of view.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Innovative ability to use business sense and creativity to develop new ideas and solutions.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Responsibilities
  • Set the mission, vision, and strategy of the information technology support organization to foster a customer-oriented culture driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to campus units and build and maintain stakeholder relationships to understand business needs.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of information technology services related to service management and the use of software-as-a-service solutions.
  • Ensure that core information technology functions are reliable, stable, and efficient while balancing growth and agility.
  • Build the leadership team and technical talent needed to deliver results and support future growth.
  • Lead the Service Management Office and Office of Information Technology continual improvement initiatives.
  • Lead recruitment and compensation initiatives for the Service Management Office.
  • Lead Customer Service and Support functions in developing procedures and processes incorporating continual improvement, best practices, and customer service.
  • Oversee key Information Technology Infrastructure Library processes, including incident management, knowledge management, change management, request fulfillment, problem management, configuration management, software asset management, service catalog management, and service portfolio management.
  • Oversee platform support for Enterprise Risk Management initiatives in Critical Infrastructure using Information Technology Operations Management processes for application monitoring and event management.
  • Manage and refine the Office of Information Technology metrics program, including key reports, key performance indicators, and metrics packages for leadership and senior management.
  • Manage program risks, issues, and scope changes using defined governance processes and tools, including forecasting demand and calculating appropriate levels of full-time-equivalent and supplier augmentation.
  • Communicate regularly with program teams, management, and stakeholders to foster inclusion and transparency.
  • Ensure quality standards are met using approved processes, methodologies, and deliverables.
  • Oversee relationships with department chairs, program directors, and departmental leadership to align the Information Technology Support Community with operational and academic needs and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and support effectiveness.
  • Engage with University leadership to support strategic adoption of service management and continual improvement principles.
  • Provide strategic leadership for university service management, including establishing a university service portal.
  • Build a multi-year roadmap for the ServiceNow platform and anticipate emerging university needs.
  • Develop strategies to align the goals of the Office of Information Technology, the Information Technology Support Community, and Distributed Information Technology Practitioners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification or ISO/IEC Foundation certification.
  • Lean certification.
  • Project Management Institute or agile certification.
  • Experience using Information Technology Infrastructure Library change management best practices.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Vendor management experience.
