Leads the profitable sales growth of the Meijer customer credit card portfolios, Meijer Gift Cards and Front End Services which exceed $1.4B in portfolio sales for the company. Leads Meijer payment Products Team Members and the strategic partnership companies supporting our customer co-brand, private label credit, fleet, retail gift card, business gift card, US Postal Service, Western Union, Lottery, TV Wall, Cabco Coinstar and other partnerships placed under this umbrella. Develops customer acquisition, growth, retention strategies, and marketing program required to grow profitable sales, margin and customer loyalty. In addition, the “marketing services” accountabilities of this role, provides marketing leadership support toward developing key processes for the Customer Engagement work and capabilities road-map. Provides for leadership and engagement in key marketing projects beyond payment products.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Responsible for the profitable growth of the $1.4B Credit Card Program, $500M gift card sales portfolio, and $10M front end services portfolio.
- Provide leadership towards the creation of key marketing processes necessary to support the customer engagement strategic capabilities road map.
- Develop and manage strategic & effective partnerships with financial service providers.
- Lead a high-performance payment solutions team, comprised of Meijer and partnership individuals by recruiting, training, coaching and developing ongoing growth capability.
- Develop the vision, strategy and innovation path for Meijer payment products.
- Lead cross functional project teams to support payment products and customer engagement needs.
- Drive the payment products portfolio performance through the application of analytics, insights and applying marketing strategies and programs to grow profitable sales.
- Manage aspects of all payment products purchasing, merchandising and inventory .
- Develop effective 1:1 marketing programs to increase credit card & Gift card spend.
- Develop scorecards and simplify reporting capabilities of key portfolio metrics.
- Manage the business relationships, contracts and contractual obligations.
- Negotiate and execute partnership agreements with business partners while mitigating potential contractual conflicts with other business activities.
- Collaborate closely with other key teams (e.g., Finance, Operations, Consumer Insights, and Shopper Marketing) to maximize impact.
- Engage and partner with leading external service providers, where appropriate, to ensure organization is continually exploring innovative business techniques, processes, tools, etc. to better engage with customers and achieve sustainable competitive advantages.
- Develop, direct and manage payment solution business units financial budgets, cost projections, performance and key trends.
- Serve as the Compliance leader & contact for credit & gift cards services.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Marketing, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years business experience in Finance, Marketing or Credit Card Portfolio Management.
- Experience managing teams and cross-functional partner relationships.
- Experience in analytic techniques applied to customer valuation, marketing ROI, design of experiment, and segmentation.
- Knowledge of Software – Microsoft Office, Micro-strategy.
- Experience in customer-facing industry (traditional or online retailing, retail financial services, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and profitably grow customer portfolios, segments or have proven marketing strategy & planning experience.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications, Micro-strategy.
- In depth understanding of customer segmentation methods.
- Strong problem solving ability and dealing with ambiguity.
- Ability to manage multi-million dollars capital & expense projects.
- Ability to transition toward a digital first environment.
- Advanced Technical Skills and ability to lead in an IT environment.
- Ability to lead and effectively manage large scale partners (Financial Institutions, Digital Payment Companies).
- Experienced in customer dispute resolution and root cause resolution.
- Strong work ethic complemented by a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to drive cross-enterprise change and influence individuals at all levels of an organization.
