The Internal Audit (IA) Business Controls sits within IA’s Chief Operating Office (COO) that is an essential component in enabling IA’s consistent adoption of firm-wide risk and control standards, frameworks and policies, including dedicated controls governance and legal expertise.
Specifically, the IA Controls Governance team is responsible for Controls reporting including IA’s Business Risk and Control Committee, Risk and Control Assessment for Management, oversight and monitoring compliance with the firm’s policy and standards as well as regulatory obligations.
Role Summary
The Controls Governance Lead will report to the Internal Audit Business Controls Officer and will work closely with senior IA leaders. This role is responsible for overseeing assessment and standardized reporting of IA’s Control Environment. They require strong understanding of Internal Audit/ Risk & Controls frameworks. Additionally, developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the IA Business Control Committee including reporting related to its own Control Environment Assessment, progress of issue remediation, identification of emerging risks and progress against performance metrics.
Establish consistent controls reporting to monitor the state and status of controls.
Leads the analysis of current versus future state gaps, identifies root causes, determines the appropriate solution and how success should be measured.
Escalate concerns related to controls and issues as needed to the appropriate level management.
Work closely with the Risk Function, HR and IA Leadership to deliver assessments related to Accountability framework and Risk and Control Assessments for covered employees.
Develop and oversee execution of global processes and ensure compliance with policies, standards, and procedures including Continuity of Business, Conflict of Interest and Mandatory absence. Lead continuous improvements of existing processes to simplify, automate and generate efficiencies.
Working closely with global Chief Auditors to understand the landscape of regulatory requirements, changes in local regulatory obligations and actions needed for compliance.
Identify and manage significant thematic and control issues processes for IA. Provide related reporting to the Audit Committee including corrective plans for risk reduction.
Stays abreast of regulatory and QA feedback, industry expectations, and external market trends to anticipate their impact on future capabilities for IA.
Support strategic IA initiatives and change management processes; work closely with the business leadership to assist with strategic initiatives.
Lead and oversee a team that develops, drives, and delivers key processes and meaningful insights that support strategic decision for the global organization.
Qualifications and Competencies:
BA/BS or equivalent.
Risk/control and Management Reporting and/or audit background is required.
Strong experience in a related role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management, with proven abilities in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high-quality deliverables according to strict timetables.
Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and ’no surprises’ approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views. This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style.
Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal audit and senior management and self-confidence to drive decisions across the various IA teams.
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing teams and making a positive impact on the organization.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$130,880.00 - $196,320.00
