Requirements
  • Three years of experience performing paralegal work in the Federal Government, or graduation from an accredited paralegal program or law school.
  • At least one year of experience reviewing documents within the context of ongoing litigation.
  • At least one year of experience using a commercially available forensic document review platform.
  • Direct knowledge of the litigation process.
  • Direct knowledge of the rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Direct knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Ability to work indoors 90% of the time.
  • Ability to frequently move standard office equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing general paralegal duties, with a primary focus on document review and production as part of ongoing litigation.
  • Assist with the legal discovery process by collecting data and reviewing it in paper and electronic formats.
  • Track and manage cases in electronic data systems.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing legal holds.
  • Assist in researching precedent and processes related to individual cases.
  • Update case management tools, such as PACER, internally and externally.
  • Provide general support in litigation and other legal matters as assigned.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with evening and weekend hours as required by business needs.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one of the three years of paralegal experience with the Department of State.
  • At least one year of experience working at the Department of State.
