Requirements
  • The applicant must be at least 21 years of age and possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to pass a background check with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
  • Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel to and from surrounding areas as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and a current driver's license.
  • A clear driving record with no DUI or DWI convictions in the past 5 years.
  • A vehicle, driver's license, and valid auto insurance in accordance with Minnesota requirements.
  • Ability to fluently read, understand, speak, and write English.
  • Dynamic communication skills, effective working techniques, and the ability to multitask.
  • General computer skills and knowledge.
  • A working cell phone with internet access.
  • Experience with Positive Supports and Crisis Interventions.
  • A working understanding of the abstract nature of maladaptive behavior.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow specific protocols, potentially including Seizure Protocol, Functional Behavior Assessment, and Behavior Reduction Protocol.
  • Ability and willingness to fill in Direct Support Professional roles as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Provide services to individuals who may engage in physical aggression, verbal aggression, elopement, self-injurious behavior, property destruction, and other challenging behaviors.
  • Understand and implement a variety of support plans and individual service plans.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state standards and laws.
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of services within a designated caseload with direct support and guidance from management.
  • Gather and document information to support individual needs and goals.
  • Track and chart data daily in compliance with company expectations.
  • Communicate frequently with managers and coordinators, especially in response to behavioral incidents.
  • Uphold the confidentiality and privacy of individuals and staff members.
  • Administer medication.
  • Assist with cash transactions, accurately track spending, and maintain receipts.
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, oral hygiene, and peri-care.
  • Perform direct support duties.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • At least 3 years of healthcare or mental health experience focused on individuals with high behaviors and disabilities.
  • Familiarity with medication administration and medical documentation.
  • An Associate of Arts degree.
