Salt XC is a North American marketing and technology agency focused on Experiential Commerce, which blends consumers’ online and offline journeys to drive measurable actions for brands. It combines strategy, creative, design, media, content, and commerce with a proprietary AI-enabled tech stack, including Media Mob (content marketplace for vetted freelancers), Podium (marketing mix modeling to predict outcomes), Frontrunner (social DSP that automates media buying), and Otto (AI media planning). The company differentiates itself by acting as a hybrid of full‑service agency and tech firm, owning an in‑house tech stack to execute faster and more data-driven campaigns, and expanding through acquisitions to integrate retail media, data analytics, and real‑world experiences. Its goal is to deliver connected, data-informed experiences that convert—scaling across North America for major brands such as Kraft Heinz, Adidas, Coca‑Cola, Visa, Microsoft Xbox, and RBC.

How agencies are reshaping junior-level roles and training in the AI era.

How agencies are reshaping junior-level roles and training in the AI era. Published 04.30.2026 * Artificial Intelligence * Culture * Future of the Agency * HR/Talent/Inclusion * Staff Development * Talent More than half of agencies pulled back on entry-level hiring as AI took over many tasks once handled by junior staff, with 57% reporting that they had slowed or paused hiring for such roles, a report last August showed. Stats like that have caused anxiety among emerging talent trying to enter the ad industry, but numbers don't paint a full picture. Experiential commerce agency Salt XC, for example, hired 100 employees within the last two months, with the majority being entry-level. Ad Age spoke with 18 agency executives, hiring managers and other industry leaders who are reworking their team structures to find new jobs and opportunities for juniors. Some of those opportunities have actually opened up as a result of AI. Other agencies are introducing apprenticeships and shadowing that offer training on higher-level skills that AI can't replace. "AI is in its infancy," said Allen & Gerritsen (A&G) CEO Andrew Graff, adding, "We're going to need a whole new set of skills." The 4As is also working on expanding The Face of Talent, its annual summer week of programming around talent initiatives, to provide more year-round training to help agencies restructure their workforces so they can continue to hire junior talent. "We're also going to be looking at things like organizational design within agencies. What does the new talent team need to look like?" said Justin Thomas-Copeland, CEO of the 4As. The guide below shows some of the ways that agencies are placing junior talent, including how they've rewired their workforces to ensure their success.

Canadian indie Salt XC buys US agency Craft & Commerce to expand media offerings

Toronto-based independent agency Salt XC has acquired Craft & Commerce, a full-service media agency with offices in New York, Chicago and Florida. This marks Salt XC's second US acquisition in a year as it expands its North American presence despite ongoing trade tensions between the US and Canada. The acquisition strengthens Salt XC's regional reach and media capabilities, combining experiential marketing with retail media expertise. Clients include Kraft-Heinz, AB InBev, Adidas and Chobani. Craft & Commerce will continue operating under its own name for now. Salt XC's previous acquisition of AI-driven agency Nectar First has enhanced its technological capabilities. Analyst Andrew Lipsman called the move a natural fit, noting both agencies' forward-thinking approach to retail media and experiential activation. Financial terms were not disclosed.
