Requirements
- One year experience as a laboratory technician (clinical internships of 12 months duration meet this requirement) or 1+ to 2 years experience as Medical Technologist.
- MT/MLS Certification (or eligible) from American Society for Clinical Pathology, AMT required.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
- Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field.
- Ability to follow written protocols.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of laboratory tests.
- Develop and maintain department quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot and perform quality control checks on laboratory instrumentation.
- Communicate laboratory procedures and results to medical staff, hospital staff, and the public.
- Read and understand information about instrumentation used in the laboratory field.
- Follow written protocols.
- Anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public.
