  • 5+ years hands-on experience working in knowledge engineering
  • 3+ years in technical leadership roles
  • 2+ years of experience working as a knowledge engineering manager
  • A Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field
  • Extensive background in knowledge engineering with a proven track record building and deploying large scalable performant knowledge graphs
  • Proficient in various knowledge representation techniques such as ontologies, taxonomies, and frames
  • Experience developing or extending ontologies to model domain knowledge

Responsibilities
  • Leading a small team of knowledge engineers and data engineers
  • Being hands-on in coding, data modeling, system design, and code reviews
  • Owning and driving the technical roadmap for the team
  • Building and maintaining BenchSci’s knowledge graph
  • Leading the harmonization and integration of diverse biological ontologies
  • Advocating for and implementing leading graph database technologies
  • Working closely with senior engineers and stakeholders
  • Driving agile practices within the team
  • Leading recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes
  • Providing mentorship and conducting regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports
  • Driving continuous improvements in ways of working and quality of work product
