Requirements
  • At least 6 months of nursing experience.
  • Current nursing state license.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
  • Ability to manually take patient vital signs.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in difficult or emergent situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, balance, and handle or lift up to 20 pounds for prolonged periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and keyboard at 50 words per minute, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others.
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, past and present medical history, and current medication lists.
  • Explain allergy testing and treatment protocols to patients.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate spirometry testing.
  • Perform testing and treatment in accordance with the clinic's protocols and safety measures.
  • Record accurate patient health information in the electronic health record system.
  • Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing phone calls and provide accurate information.
  • Track clinical inventory and resupply it when needed.
  • Complete end-of-day reports and logs accurately.
  • Follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act rules and regulations, including patient-information confidentiality.
  • Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, including universal precautions and sharps-disposal guidelines.
  • Assist with intensive outpatient program duties at the Colorado Springs and Centennial clinics once monthly.
  • Order pre- and post-intensive outpatient program medications as necessary.
  • Assist with training and ongoing mentoring of new clinical hires.
  • Become proficient in the practice-management side of the electronic health record.
  • Obtain computed tomography authorizations.
  • Scan patient documents and medical records and attach them to charts.
  • Check patients in, including obtaining demographic, primary-care-provider, contact, and insurance information.
  • Check patients out, including taking payments.
  • Communicate a patient's out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Send end-of-day emails to appropriate parties.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Enroll patients in their treatment of choice.
  • Provide full-cycle clinic support through cross-training in front- and back-office duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of front-office experience.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
