The Irvine, California-based company, whose backers include Intel Corp. (INTC) and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), had a net loss of $26.2 million on revenue of $64.5 million for the three months ended March 31, according to its filing Monday with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The figures compare with a net loss of $16.8 million on revenue of $66.6 million during the corresponding period a year earlier. Started in 2017 by four co-founders including Chief Executive Officer Kurt Busch, the company makes ultra-low-power chips and software that run AI computations on devices including earbuds, wearables and industrial systems. The company's investors with beneficial ownership of 5% or more include Intel, Microsoft and Knowles Corp., the filing shows. The world's largest memory maker reported preliminary operating income of 89.4 trillion won ($58 billion) in the three months through June, dwarfing its performance for all of 2025. Analysts on average had projected 84.2 trillion won. Revenue came to 171 trillion won, against the average estimate of 169.2 trillion won. Samsung is expected to release a full financial statement, including net income and divisional breakdowns, around the end of the month. A shortage in memory chips remains a key bottleneck for AI development, executives including Nvidia Corp. chief Jensen Huang and OpenAI Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap have said. Manufacturers are giving priority to high-end memory development to meet data centers' needs, leading to inadequate volumes of conventional memory as well. Analysts expect shortages to last through 2027 at least, giving Samsung and rivals SK Hynix Inc. and Micron Technology Inc. enormous pricing power. Syntiant, a provider of low-power physical AI solutions, has acquired Orosound and AudioSourceRE to enhance its audio processing capabilities. Financial terms were not disclosed. Paris-based Orosound develops AI-powered audio enhancement technologies, including Open-Ear Active Noise Cancellation and AI-powered Face-to-Face Conversation features. Ireland-based AudioSourceRE specialises in AI-powered sound separation, with its DeMIX platform isolating individual audio elements from complex recordings for professional applications. The acquisitions expand Syntiant's ability to process speech and sound at the edge without cloud connectivity.
